Privacy policy
Last updated June 21, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how American Medical & Equipment Supply, Inc. (“American Medical,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, discloses, and safeguards personal information when you visit americanmedicalinc.com (the “Site”), shop with us, rent or have equipment repaired, or otherwise interact with us. Please read it carefully.
1. Scope of this policy
This policy applies to personal information we collect through the Site and in the course of selling, renting, delivering, and servicing medical equipment. It does not apply to the practices of third parties we do not own or control, including the websites or services that may be linked from the Site.
2. Health-related information
American Medical is a private-pay business: we do not bill or submit claims to Medicare, Medi-Cal, or any insurance, so we do not collect insurance or billing information. We may collect limited health-related information only when it is needed to provide a product — for example, a prescription where a particular item requires one. We use such information only for that purpose, do not sell it, and protect it as described in this policy.
3. Information we collect
Information you provide to us
- Contact and account details — name, email address, phone number, billing and shipping/delivery address, and account login credentials.
- Order and transaction information — the products or rentals you purchase, order history, and delivery or pickup details.
- Payment information — processed securely by our payment provider (Shopify). We do not collect or store full payment card numbers on our own systems.
- Health-related information — limited details you choose to share, such as a prescription when a product requires one (see Section 2). We are private-pay and do not collect insurance or billing information.
- Reviews and other content — product reviews, ratings, and any content you submit.
- Communications — information you provide when you contact us through our contact form, by email, phone, or text, including the contents of your message.
Information we collect automatically
- Usage and device data — IP address, browser type, device identifiers, pages viewed, referring pages, and dates/times of access.
- Cookies and similar technologies — used to operate the Site, remember your cart and preferences, and measure traffic (see Section 6).
Information from third parties
We may receive information from service providers, such as our e-commerce and payment platforms and shipping carriers.
4. How we use your information
- Process, fulfill, and deliver your orders and rentals, and provide setup, repair, and customer support.
- Communicate with you about orders, deliveries, service appointments, and your requests.
- Operate, secure, maintain, and improve the Site and our products and services.
- Send you promotional messages where permitted, and only with your consent where required; you can opt out at any time.
- Detect and prevent fraud, enforce our Terms of Use, and comply with legal obligations.
5. How we share information
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We disclose personal information only as needed to run our business, including with:
- Service providers — such as our e-commerce platform (Shopify), payment processors, email provider, hosting, and analytics providers, who process information on our behalf under appropriate obligations.
- Shipping and delivery partners — to deliver and set up your equipment.
- Professional advisors — such as accountants, auditors, and attorneys.
- Authorities and others — when required by law, to respond to legal process, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of American Medical, our customers, or others.
- Business transfers — in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, subject to this policy.
6. Cookies and analytics
We use cookies and similar technologies to keep your cart and account working, remember preferences, and understand how the Site is used. We use Google Analyticsto measure traffic; Google may set cookies and process usage data as described in Google's privacy policy. You can control cookies through your browser settings, opt out of Google Analytics using Google's opt-out browser add-on, and use browser-based Global Privacy Control (GPC) signals, which we honor where required.
7. Your California privacy rights
Under the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (“CCPA/CPRA”), California residents have the following rights regarding personal information we hold (other than information exempt from the CCPA, such as PHI handled under HIPAA):
- Right to know / access — request the categories and specific pieces of personal information we have collected, the sources, the purposes, and the categories of third parties to whom we disclose it.
- Right to delete — request deletion of personal information we collected from you, subject to legal exceptions.
- Right to correct — request correction of inaccurate personal information.
- Right to opt out of sale or sharing — we do not sell or share personal information, so there is nothing to opt out of, but you may confirm this with us.
- Right to limit use of sensitive personal information — we use sensitive personal information (which can include health-related information) only for permitted purposes such as providing the products and services you request, and we do not use it to infer characteristics. Because we do not use it beyond these permitted purposes, no separate “limit” mechanism is required.
- Right to non-discrimination — we will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details in Section 12. We will verify your request and respond within the timeframes required by law. You may use an authorized agent where permitted.
8. Data retention
We retain personal information for as long as needed to fulfill the purposes described in this policy, including to provide products and services, maintain records, resolve disputes, and comply with our legal, tax, accounting, and regulatory obligations (which, for medical-equipment sales and rental records, may require retention for several years).
9. How we protect your information
We maintain reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information. Payment processing uses a PCI-compliant provider. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
10. Children's privacy
The Site is intended for adults and is not directed to children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If you believe a child has provided us information, please contact us so we can delete it.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will revise the “Last updated” date above and, where required, provide additional notice. Your continued use of the Site after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
